**This is a more personal post about Ryan proposing to me, if you’d like to see my review of the hotel, the activities we did, etc; clickhere
How it all started: Ryan and I planned a trip to the Bahamas with my childhood friend! We booked our vacation 6 months in advance. While I was busy shopping for beach outfits and swim suits, Ryan was secretly customizing my engagement ring, asking my Dad for my hand in marriage, AND getting a promotion at work. Apparently when we decided to go on the trip, he thought it would be the perfect time to propose!
I had no idea he was planning this. We’ve always talked about it but I sure didn’t think it would happen so soon! (Not that I mind!!) Which is why we’re having a long engagement, planning our wedding for 2022. Two years to go!
Here’s how it happened:
For a little background: Ryan works for an Advertising Agency and his hobbies include Acting/Performing/Directing. When it came time to propose, of course he had to get it on film! I also wanted to get a lot of pictures/content for my blog, so I suggested he bring his camera and drone. Side note, since my friends were there with us, I had the idea that we should have a photo shoot at sunset for us (since we were all couples), how romantic!
We stayed at the resort from December 1-7, our photo shoot day was planned for the 5th. Funny enough, I wasn’t in the mood to take pictures that day! I was tired from being in the sun all day, and Ryan had to convince me to come take pictures. I got ready, and he let me take my time. He was already taking pictures for my friends while I finished getting ready. I walked down to the beach, and he was setting the camera and drone up in a different spot. He told me to stand in front of it, so he could line it up right. As I said before, this is his hobby; I didn’t think anything was suspicious, this is our normal life together! (And reminder: I wanted content for my blog too!) I stood there waiting, he handed over the drone controls to our friend, pressed record on the camera and walked over to me.
This is where it gets GOOD: As you’ll see in the video below, he told me to hold his hands, where I joked “Are you proposing to me??” (normal for me to say that if something seemed romantic!) He began to tell me how much he loves me and other sweet words (again this is normal for us, we’re sappy and romantic together) so I didn’t think too much about it. UNTIL he dropped down on one knee and said “Will you marry me?”, I of course said “YES!” and instantly started crying.
My freshly done makeup was running everywhere, my hands were shaking, I was so happy, but I needed to collect myself. Ryan and I went back up to the room, he put his camera equipment away and I touched up my makeup. Then we met back up with our friends for a celebratory drink! They had dinner reservations, while Ry and I had previously made our own reservation for a later time. In the meantime, we called all our friends and family to tell them our news! After that, we enjoyed a delicious 4-course meal on the pier together. I was still so excited about what happened I couldn’t eat that much! Later, we ended the beautiful night with watching a One-Man-Band perform while enjoying glasses of wine.
In general, my favorite time in life is when I get to spend it with Ryan. He is my best friend, my “Prince”, and everything plus more than I could have ever asked for. He shows me every day how much he loves me. We’re goofy together, we’re serious when we need to be, but more importantly we help each other through life. We’ve been together for almost 4 years, we have learned a lot about one another. It’s not always rainbows and butterflies, there will always be difficulties we face, but we come out of it stronger TOGETHER; that’s what it’s all about. I can’t wait to marry him!
This post was a lot of fun to write and I hope you enjoyed it. I know it’s a little sappy, but I couldn’t be any happier. Thanks for reading!
