I hope you had a nice week and even better weekend! & If not, no worries, leave it behind and set your intentions on the coming week.
On Sunday nights, I grab my handy dandy notebook & a colorful pen to reflect on the previous week. Here are some prompts I use to help me get started:
What do I want to leave behind from last week?
What are three things that I was grateful for?
What postive items, actions, habits, etc. did the past week show me?
For example, I would answer like this:
Negative thoughts about myself.
I am grateful that last week showed me that I am capable, that I have an amazing support system & that I am blessed.
This past week showed me that if I stick to a routine & plan accordingly I can accomplish my goals. Setting small goals for myself shows me progress.
Another good prompt I use, is a fill in the blank:
I feel __________, I need __________, I forgive __________, I celebrate __________,
I release __________, I trust __________.
Here’s how I woud fill it out:
I feel proud, I need routine, I forgive myself, I celebrate my accomplishments,
I release my failures, I trust that this week will provide.
Just something as simple as that fill in the blank exercise is the perfect tool for being more mindful!
Now that we’ve reflected on the previous week, I like to focus on the upcoming week as well. Here are a few prompts I like to use:
What are three things I am currently grateful for? (Present moment)
What are three main goals for this coming week?
How will I accomplish the above goals?
& Here’s how I would answer:
I am grateful for my focus, my family & my future.
Get more into a routine, gain 50 more followers on instagram, & get to the gym more often.
I will get into a routine by setting up reminders on my phone to prompt me when I need to do something. I will gain 50 more followers on instgram by posting more consitantly & sharing the posts on my pinterest. I will get to the gym more often by waking up on time!
Lastly, I take 5 minutes to journal freely with no prompts. I am an emotional person, so if you’re like me this will help! Journaling freely & writing whatever comes to mind is an emotional outlet which helps me process and release my feeling from the previous week. Basically giving me a clean slate for the upcoming week, I do not want any old feelings holding me back.
Reflecting on the previous week and setting the stage for the week a head is a good practice for Sunday nights or any night of the week you’d like to just start over. Stay postive, try not to focus too much on the negatives, we are all human and sometimes things don’t turn out the way we’d like, but that’s okay. Learn from it, release it, and move on. I’ve been there many times, so I grab my favorite night time tea to calm me down & I release that negative energy onto a piece of paper, followed by postive thoughts, affirmations, and goals that I have for the next week. Always end on a postive note. You got this! You’re going to crush it this week! Keep it up!
